Benefits at Morgan McKinley | Part 2 of 6

I haven’t worked for every recruiting company in Japan, but I have worked in a few. Morgan McKinley’s benefits are valuable and let me have a sustainable lifestyle. Let me “lift the veil” and say a few things about our benefits that will go beyond the typical salary discussion.

Compensation scheme
For consultants, sales commissions make up a sizable portion of your overall salary. There is a base salary and the chance to earn more - in some cases incredibly more. The sales function is key to the business, and consultants earn based on their performance. I appreciate this because it adds personal motivation, which is far better than team targets. I feel as though the chance of financial reward can go as far as I can perform. However, it’s not the only thing I enjoy about working at Morgan McKinley.

Vacation
I am a big fan of the vacation allowance here in Japan, a generous 20 days per year. Some people in my office visit home two or three times per year in addition to weekend getaways. To be honest, it’s more than I need, but it makes me feel comfortable. 

Flex time
The most important benefit to me is the flex time system we introduced a few years ago. It’s allowed me to have a healthier lifestyle and align my personal goals with my work style. I can take a long lunch or use a block of time to go to the gym. As an example, if I know I’ll have a 7PM meeting at a cafe, I’ll leave the office early around 5:30PM to work out at the gym. Working out makes me happy and I feel like I’m pushing business forward at the same time.

We also have an open bar once a month. We take our top performers on a trip, and last year was 3 days in Okinawa. This year we’re planning on a weekend in Vietnam. Other benefits, such as health insurance, pension, and unemployment insurance are all provided in full as typical in Japan.
